Help students to have a really fun time learning a musical instrument.
Our Flute Lesson Goals
Learning a musical instrument is a vehicle for creativity and self-expression, combined with skill building and problem solving.
My goal as a music teacher is to:
What To Expect From Your First Flute Lesson
Let the fun begin!
Communication and teamwork is key to enjoyment and learning the flute well.
In our first lesson together we’ll discuss your musical goals and identify the different
ways we can help you achieve them.
As a team, teacher, student and parent we’ll also discuss the aspects of music you like, your strengths and weaknesses and what you would like to improve.
How Our Flute Program Works
Melbourne Flute Masters have designed a learning programme that includes
3 specific elements proven to optimise a child’s learning so as to increase how quickly they learn and to greatly improve their enjoyment of the flute.
Our 3 key elements are:
One on One Learning: Student + Teacher
Private classes enable one on one time for the teacher and student to focus on flute skills and individual needs. These lessons are a special time when the student builds confidence in the foundations of music. We follow a curriculum but each lesson is customised according to the
student’s progress.
Group Learning: Student + Group of Students
Children learn by listening to others play and in a group environment are encouraged by their peers to improve. This accelerates the student’s individual progress and as a result, is an essential part of the MFM program.
Group learning also helps build friendships with like-minded musicians (who can be from different schools). This also helps build a sense of belonging in students as a sense of community is a very important accelerator for learning.
Concert: 1 + Students + Family and Community
The 3rd essential element of our program is the end of term concert. All students from grasshoppers to our trailblazers come together. This gives students the opportunity to develop performance skills and share what they have learned with family and friends.
Our concert helps build self-confidence because students receive recognition for their hard work from a wider community. It’s also great for younger ones to be inspired by older students and see what’s possible!
The 5 essential elements also align with the MFM core values of:

How Many Classes Do We Have Per Term?
Flute lessons follow the Victorian School Term Dates so the exact number of private and group classes changes per term.
Each term includes:
How Much Does it Cost?
Pricing per lesson is based on the number of lessons within the school term. We also have a
****GC fee – a group and concert fee, which is a fixed fee and is the same for all groups.
Please note: Our goal is to provide everything needed to give students the highest quality of teaching so they develop a love of music and be the best flute player they can be. For these reasons, participating in group classes, ensembles and performing at the end of the year concert are an essential part of our MFM programme.
When Do You Hold Lessons?
Lessons are Tuesday – Friday and groups and makeup classes are held on Mondays.(subject to change).
However, if a weekend class is required, alternative arrangements may be able to be made.
Please call to discuss.
