How our flute program works
Melbourne Flute Masters have designed a learning programme that includes 3 specific elements proven to optimise a child’s learning, so as to increase how quickly they learn and to greatly improve their enjoyment of the flute.
Our flute lesson goals
Learning a musical instrument is a vehicle for creativity and self-expression, combined with skill building and problem solving.
My goal as a music teacher is to:
Our 3 key elements are:
One on One Learning
Private classes enable one on one time for the teacher and student to focus on flute skills and individual needs. These lessons are a special time when the student builds confidence in the foundations of music. We follow a curriculum but each lesson is customised according to the student’s progress.
Group Learning
Children learn by listening to others play and in a group environment are encouraged by their peers to improve. This accelerates the student’s individual progress and as a result, is an essential part of the MFM program.
Group learning also helps build friendships with like-minded musicians (who can be from different schools). This also helps build a sense of belonging in students as a sense of community is a very important accelerator for learning.
Concert
The 3rd essential element of our program is the end of term concert. All students from Grasshoppers to our Trailblazers come together. This gives students the opportunity to develop performance skills and share what they have learned with family and friends.
Our concert helps build self-confidence because students receive recognition for their hard work from a wider community. It’s also great for younger ones to be inspired by older students and see what’s possible!
